Dream Weaver

“Dream Weavers” is a participatory dance experience for young people that combines site-specific performance, improvisation, interactive art-making, and live music.
The piece explores the mystery and magic of our dreams—where we go, who we become, and what we can do.
No experience is necessary to participate -children and young people will be able to observe a dance performance while simultaneously being led through different movement prompts so they are part of the “dreamscape”.

Stories behind…

In 2023 April, IDEA – International Dance Encounter Amman and the Young Dance Network open called for a residency for professional dance artists interested in dynamic collaboration in Jordan.

Shortly, we received many interesting applications from Thailand, South Africa, Belgium, USA, India, etc.

After review and evaluation of the applications together with Young Dance Network, all applicants was informed whether they are selected or not with reason explained.

Finally, one approved applicant (Bella Stevall) was invited for an interview and more detailed residency plan was tailor made for the elected project, exact periods was defined in consultation with the artists, local partners and local participants.

Bella Stenvall

Bella Stenvall (she/her) is a mixed Filipino-American choreographer, dance educator, arts and culture researcher, and movement artist based in Brooklyn, New York.

She received her B.A. in Dance and Arabic with a Global Studies minor from the World Arts and Cultures/Dance Department (WACD) at the University of California, Los Angeles (2021).

Bella has been making and presenting her own choreography since she was 16 and is passionate about creative placemaking—embedding artists into the choreography of cities.

Young Dance Network

The Young Dance Network aspires to create a space for long-term networking and development which in time would provide choreographers, dancers and dramaturges working across the field with a strong platform from which they can work, develop and energize the field of contemporary dance for young audiences. It will hope to develop strong bonds between artists, recruiting new interested parties, finding through exploration of common points of interest, new inspirations and possible collaborative projects and exchanges.

An aim of the network will be to enhance methods for sharing competencies regarding dance for young audiences. The art of dancing is passed on from person to person. Through a process of learning from each other, each person acquires experiences that enable them to develop specific skills and competences. In order to learn more and to share these specificities, environments are needed in which to expose practices and ideas.

Alwan International Children's Festival

We also always strive for children and families to have a positive impact by developing a sense of creativity in children and encouraging their talents.
