No Corners

Decadance Co presents “No Corners”, a full length contemporary dance work developed from the first edition which premiered in 2015. This work re-examines the boundaries of comfort and negotiates the psychological space surrounding that highly sought after quality of life we tirelessly navigate towards. How comfortable are we with ourselves as individuals to leave a mark in society and how do we alter the idea of comfort for others to feel included?

In collaboration with film artist Khairulhakim, “No Corners” dives deep into the in-between state of comfort and discomfort by using the medium to further push the idea of transporting and stimulating emotions.

Surviving and thriving as small young arts companies

As traditional grants for emerging young artists are often scarce, creative young people are coming up with their own ways to raise money.

The brilliant young artists and art managers of this production, Edwin Wee and Rachel Lum, used online fundraising technique to raise money to purchase flight tickets to come to perform in Jordan for the first time in their lives.

Behind their successful crowdfunding stories is a significant investment of time and effort.

They will share their stories thriving as a not-for-profit collaborative contemporary dance company in Singapore, as performance makers, also as change makers, at our Round Table during the festival.

They will also give a Contemporary Dance Workshop on Wednesday 20 Sept, 4 – 6 pm.
