Come Together Dance Jam

Meet the 10 young professional dancers from all over the world belong to a dance company which specifically fulfils the important function of supporting young dancers on their way into the professional field of dance!

Led by their director, Brazilian choreographer Rodolpho Leoni, Professor of Modern Dance at the Folkwang Academy, these 10 young people will surprise us with a performance indoor and outdoor in one of the oldest neighborhoods in Amman!

We also invite you to dance with them!

Just like music lovers get together to have a jam session, where they sing and play songs together, improvise new material and simply enjoy being in the company of other people who love music, a jam session of dance and movement is the same!

For a Sunday afternoon, let’ jam!

You could be a dancer, not a dancer,  and at a jam everyone moves together, sharing the love of coming together!

Central to the ethos of our Festival is providing opportunities for members of the wider community to participate in dance. We believe using our bodies, voices or in-animating objects to express is an essential part of the human experience.

This workshop was made possible with the support of:

Folkwang Tanzstudio

Folkwang Tanzstudio (FTS) can look back on more than 90 years of successful history. It was founded in 1928 by Kurt Jooss; Choreographers such as Pina Bausch, Susanne Linke, Reinhild Hoffmann, Urs Dietrich, Mark Sieczkarek and Henrietta Horn have had a decisive influence on FTS in later years. Since October 2012, Rodolpho Leoni is the company’s sole artistic director.

FTS is an internationally active company of graduates with currently 10 professional dancers from all over the world and it belongs to the Institute for Contemporary Dance at the Folkwang University of the Arts. Guest performances and co-productions with renowned dance / theatre institutions as well as festivals are inherent parts of the artistic work of FTS. In addition to the creations with international choreographers from a diversity of backgrounds, the second focus of FTS is on the cooperation with the Master Degree Program Dance Composition/ Choreography.

FTS is characterised by its willingness to experiment, artistic diversity and openness. It continues to carry the idea of its founder Kurt Jooss, i.e. to look for the human being in dance, onto the stage and into the world.
