Workshop
In this dance workshop we invite you to the practices used in the creation of I U M I.
Through various guided improvisation tasks, we will move between dancing individually to dancing in couples and in bigger groups.
We will be spiralling, curving, traveling through space and playing with each other.
More specifically we will engage in practices where we dance with one or several actual or imaginary partners, on the one hand through hugging or through the touch of our hands. On the other hand, we will practice how to lead and follow one and another through guiding our own body as well as our partners’ by initiating movements through various body parts. The work is based on attentive listening and a constant negotiation of leading and following in order to to allow the information received, and given, to travel into the body and allow that to evolve into your whole-body-dancing.
For this workshop you can expect some serious fun and groovy hours of coming together and dancing together!

Central to the ethos of our Festival is providing opportunities for members of the wider community to participate in dance. We believe using our bodies, voices or in-animating objects to express is an essential part of the human experience.
