Workshop with Tumbleweed

The first part of the workshop will consist of a warm-up traveling through all the different articulations of the body and get it ready through mobility and strengthening exercise, inspired by floorwork, release technique and martial art. A special awareness will we brought to the spine and its fluid motion, as well as its connection to the way we use our visual organ. This non-stop movement session will gradually bring us to the core of the work that we are currently busy with. A research based on accurate listening and delicate negotiation within a group, in order to build a certain collective awareness, and challenge its common physical language. We are curious to study the potential to function as one organism without loosing the individual and inner dialogue.

Duration: 120 minutes
Given by: Micaël Florentz & Angela Rabaglio

This program is supported by WBI (WALLONIE-BRUXELES INTERNATIONAL).

Central to the ethos of our Festival is providing opportunities for members of the wider community to participate in dance. We believe using our bodies, voices or in-animating objects to express is an essential part of the human experience.

Tumbleweed

Based in Brussels, Tumbleweed is a collaboration between the Swiss choreographer and dancer Angela Rabaglio and French choreographer/dancer and musician Micaël Florentz. Both were brought through different ways to the field of choreography and complete each other with their respective backgrounds. They founded Tumbleweed in 2017 and started developing its artistic vision. The Gyre is their first production. It defines already extensively the choreographers’ interests and ambitions: they develop a movement language inspired by their travels, by science, nature and philosophy.
